Xiaomi announces the Mi Pad 2 with Windows 10
The 7.9-inch tablet with a full-metal body comes in late December
The Chinese company Xiaomi today unveiled the successor to the Mi Pad tablet. Unlike the first model which was running Android, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will be offered in two variants – with Android and Windows 10.
The Mi Pad 2 with Windows 10 out of the box will be available in China in late December, while other markets may follow in early 2016. The tablet features a full-metal body, a quad-core Intel processor with 2 GB of RAM, a high-res 7.9-inch screen (2048 x 1536) and 64 GB of internal storage.
Other key features of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 are the USB Type-C connector that supports Fast Charging, 8-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5MP front camera, 6190 mAh battery. The Mi Pad 2 tablet is 18% thinner than its predecessor and has the following dimensions: length 200.4, width 132.6, thickness 6.95mm.
The Windows 10 version of the Mi Pad 2 will be offered in dark grey or champagne gold for 1,299 Yuan or around $200.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi is partnering with Microsoft to release the Windows 10 Mobile ROM for the Mi 4 smartphone. The public release is expected to happen towards the end of November.
