Microsoft has updated its Music app for Windows smartphones to version 2.6.224 which is now live in the Store and can be downloaded or updated for free.

The most important new feature in this version is LIVE TILE so you will be able to see artists and tracks on your Start Screen. For now, Live Tile is only visible to a small group of people – users who are on the Preview Program running the latest Update 1 (GDR 1) or those of you who have grabbed the HTC One M8 for Windows which is the only handset on the market running GDR 1 Update right now.

The new version of the app has some other improvements and fixes in addition to Live Tile support. For the following changes, you don’t need to have Update 1 on your smartphone:

• Album art improvements
• Better overall performance
• Faster loading
• Less app terminations
• No more playlists duplications
• Recent plays improvement
