Windows phone’s business apps to be shut down in May
Microsoft pulls support for Teams, Skype Business and Yammer
Redmond has completely given up on Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile, even though the latter will be officially supported until late 2019. Microsoft is now sunsetting three of the business apps for Windows Phones – Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, and Yammer. Teams was launched for Windows 10 Mobile just a year ago, and the app scored a couple of updates in 2017.
The company announced in a blog post that Teams will stop working on Windows 10 Mobile after May 20, while the other two apps may continue to work, but without official support. Office 365 users who rely on Microsoft Teams for Windows 10 Mobile will see an error message when trying to connect after May 20. They, consequently, will have no other option than getting an Android or an iPhone which Microsoft fully supports.
It seems that Windows phones are finally dead, and this applies not only for regular users, but also for businesses. However, the hopes for a powerful Surface Mobile/Phone with full Windows 10 on ARM are still not fully dead.
