Windows Phone 8.1 has reached 24% of all active smartphones
AdDuplex’s new report has gathered data from 5000 Windows Phone apps serving ads. The report shows that 8.1 is already on a quarter of all active phones while WP 8.0 is still the most popular version with a share of 56.6% in August. Windows Phone 7.X is on 19.2% of all handsets.
Data broken down by OEMs shows that Nokia branded phones are 95%, HTC 3.3%, while Samsung has just 1.1%. The situation is not surprising, but we are likely to see a drop of Nokia’s share in the coming months and some new manufacturers entering the chart thanks to all recently announced Windows Phones.
Cheap Windows Phones are still very popular. Nokia Lumia 520 is a dominant player with a 30.2% share while the second most popular device is the 625 (7%). The only relatively popular high-end Windows Phone is the Lumia 920 with a 6.3% share. There are no 2014 models in the top 10 graph.
