Windows Insider program resumes for Windows 10 Mobile
Support for compatible phones may continue until mid-2020
Microsoft released the official Fall Creators Update (although it doesn’t bring significant new features) to supported smartphones like the Lumia 950 and Alcatel Idol 4 Pro this Autumn, and many fans have been wondering whether new Insider preview builds will be released for Windows 10 Mobile or not.
After over a month without Insider preview builds for mobile, yesterday Microsoft rolled out a new build with number 15254.16. This build, available in the Fast Ring, was compiled on December 5, or two days after the official cumulative update for December released a few days ago – 15254.124.
What’s different between both builds is yet unknown, but at least we have some hope that Microsoft is planning to update compatible devices to the Redstone 4 branch. This in turn would extend the support of phones like the Lumia 950, 650 and others until mid-2020, as Microsoft promises cumulative updates for 2 years after the release.
For now, there is no reason why you should re-join the Insider program for mobile, as the official production ring and the Insider builds are almost identical.
