Windows 10 for phones is now available for selected testers
The Public version is expected this month
Microsoft revealed key elements of Windows 10 for phones and small tablets on January 21, but most of the details about the successor to Windows Phone 8.1 OS are yet to be unveiled. The public version of the Technical Preview is expected to arrive later this month, but now Neowin is reporting that a pre-release build has been seeded to a selected group of testers ahead of public release.
Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones has the build number 8.15.12492.41 which is a significant increase from the current 8.10.xxxxx build of Windows Phone 8.1.
This build, 12492, is either the first public version we should get soon or an early test version before the real public launch in February.
Meanwhile, Microsoft says that the preview version of Windows 10 for the phones is not likely to come tomorrow (Feb 4) so we may need to wait a couple of more days to the actual release.
