Find out what are the most popular Windows phones in US, Europe and India
AdDuplex has just published its market statistics for August and the results are quite interesting. The company collects data based on over 1000 Windows Phone apps running AdDuplex SDK 2. The report shows that Lumia 520 still dominates the world market (of both WP7 and WP8) with a 18% market share, while Lumia 920 has 11% and Lumia 620 – 9%. The most popular non-Nokia handset is HTC 8X with 5%. Analyzing only the Windows Phone 8 market, Lumia 520 has 27% share, while 920 has 17% and 620 has 14%. The new 41MP Nokia camera-phone named Lumia 1020 popped up on the 16th place worldwide and on the 17th place in the US among all WP8 devices. The report reveals that 1020 sales are better than the previous carrier exclusive Lumia 928.
The US Market
Here, the situation hasn’t changed much since the latest report. The first three Windows Phone devices in the US are Lumia 822 with 18%, Lumia 920 and HTC 8X with 16% and 13% respectively. Lumia 52x has gained 3% and Lumia 928 has grown by 1%. Verizon Wireless remains the leading carrier. Verizon has a 39% market share, compared with 34% for AT&T and 19% for T-Mobile.
Europe
Lumia 520 enjoys huge popularity in France (27% share). HTC 8S is second with 14%, Lumia 920 is third with 12%.
In Spain 520 is also a leader, but here almost 50% of the market consist of WP7 devices. The second place is taken by 710, the third is for 800.
Nokia Lumia 920 is a very popular model in Sweden. 40% of all users have the flagship device and this is probably the biggest share anywhere in the world. It is also interesting to see Samsung ATIV S with 4% and both HTC 8X and 8S in the graph.
India
India is a major phone market and Lumia 520 is doing just fine here. 520 has grown by 5% and has now 36% market share. Other popular devices are Lumia 720 with 14% and 620 with 12%.
Other facts
Nokia is the leading Windows Phone manufacturer with 86,9%. HTC has 9.8%, Samsung – 2.1%, Huawei – 1,2%.
65% of all phones run WP8, 35% run WP7
Only 3% of the handsets have GDR2 (the data is obtained on Aug 14th)
57% of all phones have 512MB RAM, 43% have 1 GB or more.
