Video Comparison: Nokia Lumia 1020 vs Samsung Galaxy S5
All About Windows Phone (AAWP) has conducted a 1080p video test comparing two top-end devices: Lumia 1020 vs Galaxy S5. Attached to a jig, both phones are compared in real time capturing 1080p videos at a 16:9 resolution. Each scene has been edited to create a split effect with each half showing 50% of each smartphone’s full 1080p frame.
The test consists of five different scenes: 1) daytime lowlight, 2) bluebells close-up, 3) stabilization & zoom, night, and sunlight macro. Watch the video below:
During most of the scenes both models capture almost identical videos though each model has its own advantages. For example, the 1020 shines with its optical image stabilization and HAAC microphones for great audio sound. The S5 on the other hand, captures 4k videos, which could be appealing to some users. But the S5’s software stabilization is not working as flawless as the hardware OIS in the Lumia, something that can be seen in the video test.
To summarize, it looks that Samsung is narrowing the gap in quality to Nokia, but the 1020 is still the king of the camera phones.
