SMS Relay comes to everyone on Windows 10

Microsoft has updated the Skype Preview UWP app for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10, adding the SMS Relay feature to the app for users outside of the Fast Ring. The app has been updated for all users on the Release Preview Ring, but some non-Insiders have also received the new version. Our Lumia 950 on the Production Ring was also updated to version 11.8.190, and now includes SMS integration for Skype.

With Skype Preview for Windows 10 and 10 Mobile, you could send SMS from Skype from your PC or phone, with SMS syncing between devices.

After updating and launching the app, you will be asked if you want to use Skype for texting instead of the default SMS texting app. The same feature is expected to reach the Android app in the coming months, as Microsoft wants to turn Skype into a powerful cross-platform messaging app.
