Skip Ahead to Redstone 4 no longer available for Windows Insiders
Skip Ahead has been closed
A week ago, Microsoft announced a feature for Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring called ‘Skip Ahead’. It would allow anyone to skip the future preview builds from the Redstone 3 branch and jump straight to the Redstone 4 development branch once it’s ready for public testing.
But the company hasn’t allowed every single user to Skip Ahead. If you head to the Windows Insider settings right now, under the Skip Ahead option, you can read that “Skip Ahead is now closed”. Microsoft has apparently reached the planned limit for Insiders willing to test RS4, and the company no longer offers the ability to sign up for Redstone 4. However, this is about to change in the future, after the company releases the Fall Creators Update (Redstone 3) to the general public.
Microsoft is currently finalizing the update, but also working on the next major update planned for March 2018.
Skip Ahead was not available for those with Windows 10 phones, although the feature has appeared in the latest preview build with the _feature2 tag. Later, Microsoft confirmed that this was a mistake, and Skip Ahead was only for PCs.
