Build 17650 for Skip Ahead Insiders includes signs of a dark File Explorer.

Microsoft never introduced a dark theme to the classic Windows 10 UI and apps, while the current UWP apps have the ability to switch between Light and Dark theme from their Settings menu. Now, it appears that the Dark Theme for some core legacy apps like the classic File Explorer is about to debut soon for Windows Insiders.

According to a notable Microsoft and Windows enthusiasts, Windows 10 Build 17650 – a build currently available for those in the Skip Ahead ring, has signs of a Dark Theme mode for File Explorer. The work is obviously in progress, as the dark theme is not visible on the whole app window, but only on the left-side panel. The company is probably adding more black parts to select core Windows apps in future Insider builds from the Redstone 5 development branch.

Phone-related APIs have also been added to build 17650. Microsoft added back the phone dialer and other core mobile APIs, which could be a sign that Windows 10 will soon expand to mobile form factors.
