Rumor: HP and Microsoft co-working on a consumer-oriented flagship for early 2017
A consumer-oriented phone may launch in February 2017
The German Windows blog Dr.Windows reports from trusted sources that HP and Microsoft are co-working on a new flagship phone for early 2017. The upcoming device will be consumer-oriented flagship, unlike the business-focused HP Elite x3. With Microsoft killing the Lumia line, this smartphone might be the bridge between the aging Lumia 950/950 XL and the Surface phone which is not expected to launch before late 2017.
The new HP Windows Phone might be announced during the Mobile World Congress in February 2017, according to Dr. Windows. The same source reveals that Microsoft will help HP include many Lumia exclusive technologies and features like Glance, ClearBlack and PureView in the next phone.
Microsoft has already announced during a closed event in Redmond that a new phone will be launching in February. The new HP Windows Phone should be released with the Redstone 2 software update for Windows 10.
