Photos for Windows 10 updated with Set as lock screen & background, new animation

Photos, Outlook Mail, Camera and other Universal Windows 10 apps score updates

Microsoft has released new updates to some of the key Windows 10 apps. The updates are available for Phones and PC, as these apps are universal and share the same code across devices. Most of the apps lack a changelog, but we find some important changes.

The Photos app has a new animation for its Live Tile with thumbnails of the images and a nice zooming effect. The app now gives you the ability to set a photo as a background or lock screen directly through the app by tapping on the ellipsis at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately, the app is still a bit slow and buggy, especially when zooming photos.

Outlook Mail has improved notifications on Live Tile, while the rest of the updated apps (Camera, MSN apps, and others) have no visible changes.

You can update all these Windows 10 apps by going to the Store (on a PC or phone) and tap on scan for updates.
