Phones with 512MB of RAM will get Windows 10, but without all features
The preview build is being tested, coming soon for some Lumias
Microsoft revealed on Twitter yesterday that the first preview version of Windows 10 for phones is being tested by Microsoft and will be released as soon as the procedure finishes.
Initially, not all current smartphones will be able to install the first preview build, but more devices will be added later. Therefore, it is safe to assume that among the first wave of smartphones which will be able to install the Technical Preview in February are Lumia 930/1520 and HTC One M8, plus the recently released mid-range models – Nokia Lumia 730/5 and 830.
We believe that the previous generation of PureView phones like Lumia 920, 925, 1020 could also be included in the first wave. Microsoft will add support for other models in the next build of Windows 10 for phones.
Joe Belfiore explains also that even low-class devices with 512MB of RAM (such as the Lumia 520, 530, 620) will be getting official Windows 10 later this year, though features may vary. That means popular smartphones like Lumia 520 won’t get all functionalities which high-end models like 1520 or any other 1 GB phone will receive.
The first version of Windows 10 for Insiders will be released in February.
