Official changelog for Lumia 550 and Lumia 650 firmware updates
Microsoft lists all improvements for Lumia 650 & 550
Firmware update 01078.00042.16352.50xxx was rolled out to owners of the Lumia 650 and Lumia 550 a week ago, but this update came without a changelog. The only visible change was the inclusion of Double tap to wake for the Lumia 650. Now Microsoft publishes on its support page what’s new for both smartphones:
Support for double tap to wake enabled for Lumia 650
Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results.
Bluetooth connectivity improvements.
Stability and reliability improvements.
Camera improvements, including improved image and video quality, improved Auto-focus and fix for a problem that was causing slow motion capture to skip frames for some users.
Cellular connectivity improvements, including fix for a problem that caused occasional network loss for some users.
Audio quality improvements, including fix for a problem that caused voice call audio to get scrambled for some users.
This changelog is identical to the last one for the Microsoft Lumia 950 & 950 XL. However, it’s great that Microsoft brings the same improvements for all new models, with the only exception being the lack of Double tap to wake on the Lumia 550 due to hardware limitations.
The new firmware for Lumia 550 & 650 is available via the Device Recovery Toll and Over-the-Air. The roll-out process may depend on the country and phone variant, so be patient.
