Microsoft has taken full control over Nokia’s ‘Devices and Services’ unit and the company is now working on its first smartphone as a phone manufacturer. A device codenamed ‘Superman’ will include a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, so it will be the best Windows Phone for selfies. Microsoft’s decision to use a 5MP camera instead of 1-megapixel is not an accident, according to Tom Warren. He believes that the ‘Superman’ will be the ultimate smartphone for selfies, which would join the recently announced HTC One.

The Verge reports that Nokia Superman will be a mid-range device with a 4.7-inch screen, which is scheduled to debut in the second half of the year, following the Windows Phone 8.1 update. The first new smartphones are due to arrive in May/ June 2014, which will coincide with the 8.1 update.

There are three more new smartphones for 2014 under development including ‘Goldfinger’, which will come with off-glass gestures. Microsoft hasn’t shared its plans on whether the new models will include the Nokia logo or not, but there is a strong chance for that to happen, according to Nokia.
