Nokia SensorCore lets you monitor fitness-related metrics

Bing health and Fitness Beta app for WP8
Diyan

Nokia SensorCore SDK allows you to use the new pedometer functionality in Bing Health & Fitness app without draining the battery of your Windows Phone 8.1 device. Furthermore, thanks to new APIs all third party developers can benefit from this low power functionality by adapting their fitness and tracking applications.

With that in mind, all smartphones equipped with SensorCore will be able to continuously monitor your movements throughout the day without running down the battery. This functionality will be available for a range of Lumia devices – Nokia Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia Icon, Nokia Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520, but you will need to run the official WP8.1 update to enable the new app functionalities.

The new Bing Health & Fitness app now includes pedometer support which identifies and monitors steps and calories burned throughout the day, tracking your progress and location. Thanks to Nokia’s SensorCore SDK, Health apps such as Bing Health & Fitness can monitor different fitness-related metrics and they can be programmed to perform tasks and track movements automatically.

Bing Health and Fitness pedometer support

The new pedometer functionality in Bing Health and Fitness first ships with Nokia Lumia 630 & 635, while for the rest of the SensorCore supported smartphones the feature will be coming soon as a part of the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 software update, scheduled to begin rolling out in late June 2014/ early July.

You can download the updated Bing & Health app with pedometer support from the Windows Phone store.
