Nokia Lumia 620 is receiving the Lumia Black update
Lumia Black + GDR3 software update rolled out to most of the Lumia devices around the globe, but there was one model yet to be updated – Lumia 620. Now, it seems the waiting is over as users in various regions report that their handsets are receiving the Lumia Black firmware.
According to Nokia, the update has begun rolling out in some European countries such as Finland and The Netherlands. For most countries however, the Lumia Black is marked as ‘waiting for approval’ which means it could start rolling out at any time.
Nokia Lumia Black update brings several new features and improvements to Windows Phone 8. Among them are custom ringtones for applications, double tap to wake up the phone, improved glance screen, Bluetooth 4.0, driving mode and a couple of Nokia exclusive apps such as Storyteller and Beamer.
You can check if the update is available in your country from the Nokia Software Support page or heading to Settings –> Phone updates. Before you download and install the Lumia Black, make sure the battery is charged enough (at least 60%).
Lumia 620 is the third most popular Windows Phone with a share of 7% from all active devices in February 2014. The phone has a 3.8-inch display (480 x 800), a dual-core 1 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM, 8 GB storage, 5-megapixel camera and a 1300 mAh battery.
