The so-called phablets, or smartphones with large screens, are becoming more and more popular among consumers. Just a few years ago, iPhone was considered to be a ridiculously big device, but now the situation is just the opposite. We can find a lot of models with screens larger than 5-inches, while some manufacturers go further offering 6-inches and more. Today, we are doing a quick specs comparison of three of the most popular phablets  – Nokia Lumia 1520, Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

Sony offers the largest model (6.44 inches), the Nokia is second with 6 inches, while the Note 3 offers ‘just’ 5.7 inches across diagonals. While Sony Z Ultra is the slimmest (6.5 mm), tallest (179.4mm) and heaviest (212g) among these three models, Lumia 1520 is the thickest and almost as heavy as Z Ultra. Galaxy Note 3 is quite light for its size, due to the material used – thin plastic. We can pick Sony as the most elegant device, followed by the Nokia.

Lumia 1520 has 32GB of storage, Xperia Z Ultra offers half less, while the Samsung 16, 32 or 64 GB. Each of the models comes with a microSD slot, so users can easily upgrade adding 64GB more. Qualcomm Snapdragon is the processor found in all three devices, with a minor difference – the Note 3 is clocked at 2.3 GHz (compared with 2.2 GHz for the other models). Major difference comes in the way of RAM, as Note 3 comes with 3GB, as opposed to 2GB for Nokia and Sony.

In terms of camera performance, Nokia is found to be superior with its 20MP PureView sensor. The Lumia’s battery is also the best, offering up to 25 hours of talk time on 3G. For comparison, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, which has the weaker battery, lasts up to 16h on 3G.

Sony is water and shatter proof, something missing from the competition’s offerings. Samsung has also its advantages, as it offers a lot of stylus functionality.

To conclude, each of these phones is a classy device, with fast processor, great screen and design, so you can easily pick any of them as your next smartphone. No matter which device you choose,  you will be happy with smooth performance.

Nokia Lumia 1520: great camera, excellent performance, battery power
