Nokia Lumia 1020 officially unveiled in New York
Nokia’s highly anticipated smartphone Lumia 1020 has been officially unveiled at a special press event in New York today. The Nokia Lumia 1020 looks impressive with its second-generation 41-megapixel Pure View sensor allowing people to discover more details than their eyes can see.
As expected, the main focus of the press conference was the 41 MP camera monster. The new Pure View sensor has an improved Optical Image Stabilization, 6 lens optics and 3x optical zoom. It offers multiple levels of zoom, face detection and dual-capture. The camera has autofocus, Xenon Flashlight and LED. Nokia promises crystal clear pictures and rich audio sound. The camera captures 1080p super clear blur free videos at 30 fps. The imaging user experience is enriched by the Nokia Smart Camera and Nokia Pro Camera.
Besides the camera the phone has a 4.5-inch AMOLED WXGA display with a 1280 x 768p resolution with the Gorilla Glass 3. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor with 2 GB of RAM and a secondary, 1.2 MP HD front-facing wide angle camera. The internal memory is 32 GB, though in some regions the Lumia is expected to arrive with 64 GB on-board. Again, no MicroSD slot.
The phone measures 130.4 x 71.4 x 10.4 mm and weighs 158 grams. It is powered by a 2000 mAh battery and runs Windows Phone 8 operating system. Nokia also announced the Nokia Camera grip. It complements the Nokia Lumia 1020, turns it into a real camera and gives additional battery life.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 arrives exclusively at AT&T. Sales start July 26 at a price of $299.99 with a new two year contract. The phone will reach the other countries including China and Europe later on this quarter. An exclusive version of the device will arrive at Telefonica in selected European and Latin America markets. Nokia Lumia 920 is available in black, yellow and white.
