What new smartphones can we expect from Microsoft soon?
New Lumia smartphones may debut before the end of January
Microsoft is now preparing the first wave of smartphones for 2015 and we could see these devices very soon – at the January 21 event, or shortly after. Many unannounced Lumia smartphones have already appeared on certification documents and benchmark databases. So, what should we expect from Microsoft in terms of new hardware in Q1 2015?
Low-end
- A 4-inch Lumia smartphone, possibly called the Microsoft Lumia 435, has appeared in Brazil. The phone has a Snapdragon 200 processor, 1 Gigs of RAM, and 1GB of RAM.
- Another 4-inch Lumia under the Lumia 532 name has leaked from certification documents. The phone could be identical to the Lumia 435’s design, and similar to the 530 in terms of hardware, but with a lower price and dual SIM.
Mid-range
- A 5-inch smartphone (RM-1072) with a 720p display has been discovered by AdDuplex. The new Windows Phone looks like a mid-range device and could be powered by the new Snapdragon 410 processor. This phone could be an upgraded version of the Lumia 830, possibly called Lumia 835, or can have another name.
- A 5.7-inch smartphone with a 720p resolution could be the Lumia 1320 successor. The rumored Microsoft Lumia 1330 is loaded with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 (or 410) processor with 1 Gigs of RAM, has 16 or 32 GB of internal storage, and a 14MP PureView camera on the back.
High-end
There are no confirmed leaks about flagship devices right now. As we suggested months ago, Microsoft would probably keep the best products for the Windows 10 launch later in 2015.
Taking into account that an early preview of Windows 10 for phones may go live next week, which will be a bit earlier than originally expected, Microsoft may decide to announce its flagships sooner than mid-2015. Lumia 940, Lumia 1040 (or 1030) and Lumia 1540 (or 1530) could be Microsoft’s top-end products, all running Windows 10 Mobile.
An unconfirmed source from India claims that a camera-phone with a huge camera module (like Lumia 1020 successor) is now under testing with Windows (Mobile) Phone 10 and it could launch soon. We hope that Microsoft will reveal some details about new smartphones at the Windows 10 event on January 21.
