New mid-range Lumia phones found in Zauba database, possible Lumia 740, 840/ 840 XL
It is time for more premium Lumias
After flooding the market with so many cheap Lumia smartphones (from x40, x50 and even the x60 range), it seems that Microsoft will do the same in the mid and then in the top-end segments. The upcoming mid-class devices have already appeared in the Zauba records. Zauba is an Indian database that tracks goods exported and imported to the country. According to new Zauba entries, test units have been imported to India for internal purposes.
First is a 4.7-inch model with the codename RM-1127. This model will likely succeed the Lumia 730 and will have two versions – Microsoft Lumia 740 dual SIM and single SIM.
Then we have new evidence about successors to the upper-range Lumia 830. There will be two versions – one with a 5 or 5.2-inch display and a phablet – the possible Lumia 840 XL with a 5.7-inch screen. The future phablet is rumored to include a 13 or 14MP PureView camera, 5Mp front-facing shooter, and a design similar to the Nokia Lumia 830. The upcoming phablet will have a dual SIM and single SIM variant.
Microsoft is also working on two premium Lumia models which may be called Lumia 940 (5.2-inch) and 940 XL (5.7 inch). Both are expected to include octa-core Snapdragon processors, Quad-HD screens, Continuum feature, and at least 20-megapixel PureView cameras.
Microsoft may decide to unveil new mid-rangers in the coming weeks, we don’t think that the top-end offerings will debut before Windows 10 Mobile in autumn.
