HP Elite X3 revealed in full glory

HP has finally announced its revolutionary business-oriented smartphone Elite X3. The device should go on sale this summer bearing quite a steep price, and offering some amazing specs, features and accessories for mobile productivity.

First, let’s see what the X3 can offer in terms of specs. It is a good-looking device with a 6-inch AMOLED screen (Quad HD), Bang & Olufsen stereo speakers, 16 MP main camera, 8 MP selfie camera, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB of storage, microSD slot, and a non-removable 4150 mAh battery.

The Elite X3 also comes with a USB Type-C connector, Dual SIM, enterprise level of security, and dual bio-metrics with Iris recognition and Fingerprint reader. In addition, the phone supports Qi and PMA wireless charging, passes military testing for durability and IP67 certification for liquid and dust ingress.

The situation gets even more interesting when we learn that the HP Elite X3 can be used as three separate devices – a phone, laptop or a PC. Thanks to Windows 10’s Continuum, the phone can be used as a PC when docked or wirelessly connected to an external screen. The HP’s dock comes with USB-A and USB-C ports, a wired Ethernet Port, and a DisplayPort.

HP has also developed an accessory called ‘Mobile Extender’ that looks like a very thin and light laptop, but only includes a built-in battery, keyboard and a 12.5-inch full HD screen. You can connect the Elite X3 to the Mobile Extender and create a real laptop powered by the phone.

The HP Elite x3 is expected to be available this summer; exact pricing of the device and its ecosystem of accessories and subscriptions will be shared closer to date of availability.
