Over-the-air firmware update to be released soon

Microsoft will roll out a firmware update for the Lumia 550 in the coming days, but if you don’t want to wait for a regular OTA update, the Windows Device Recovery Tool already has the latest version.

Version 15503.21007 for Lumia 550 is now live for downloads through the PC tool that wipes the phone, installs the latest official software, and returns the device to the factory state. Read more on how to use the Recovery tool here.

The new firmware for Lumia 550 comes a few weeks after Microsoft updated its flagship phones Lumia 950 and 950 XL with improved performance and stability, better battery life, and some other fixes.

Meanwhile, the software company should release a new Insider build for Mobile and PC by the end of the week, and Build 10586.71 may be released for non-Insider Lumia 950 and 950 XL devices soon after.
