Next week, more than a year after the release of Lumia 1020, its manufacture will come to an end. The sales will be continued only with devices on hand at the moment.

The product was impressive mainly about its 41MP camera. The last units are on sale but the successor of the 1020 model has not been announced yet. Up to now the highest-resolution camera on another Lumia device is 20MP on Lumia Icon/930 and 1520.

However, there are some signs that Microsoft is developing a successor of the 1020. Jo Harlow, from the Phones Business Unit of Microsoft stated that they are on the way to release a new model with similar camera options and properties such as those of Lumia 1020. According to her, camera technology has always been a priority for Microsoft’s developers.

Harrow did not mention any approximate date of release but we suspect that Lumia 1030 is already in its development process.
