Build 10586.29 now available for the new smartphones

Two days ago, Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.29 for Windows Insiders with Lumia 950, 950 XL and 550. Now, the company is rolling out the update to all devices worldwide, officially, regardless of country and carrier.

This is pretty great news for all Windows Phone fans – it is the first time we see Microsoft bypassing carriers and pushing updates as soon as they are ready for distribution – “Windows as a service”.

However, there are some glitches as well – a small percentage of the Lumia 950 users still haven’t received build 10586.29 while Microsoft has acknowledged an issue which is now being investigated. Those users who are affected can just wait a couple of days for a fix, or do a hard reset which has been confirmed to resolve the issue with not seeing the cumulative update.

Windows 10 Mobile 10586.29 includes a number of performance improvements and bug fixes:

You will see additional improvements in upgrade experience, including devices with limited free space, map rendering on update, and RCS enabled device settings.

Improved application backwards compatibility for Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight applications.

Edge performance and stability has been improved. Auto-completion has been updated to allow user to more easily edit the end of the URL in the address bar.

Additional Bluetooth stability improvements.

We have resolve issues on switching the active cellular connectivity profile on Dual SIM devices.
