Lumia 640 to be the first model from the 4rd generation of Lumias
High-end models including Lumia 1040 expected this summer
We previously reported that Microsoft is about to announce a cheaper variant of the Lumia 830 and a successor to the Lumia 1330. Today, a Brazilian source revealed that one of the unannounced devices previously spotted in certification documents will launch as Microsoft Lumia 640 Dual-SIM DTV.
Digital Television Tuner is a very popular feature in Brazil so the new Lumia will come with integrated DTV (like the Lumia 635).
It seems that the Lumia 640 (and 645) will be the first models within the new x40 series of Lumia smartphones and we may hear more details at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona starting in 8 days.
According to previous leaks, Lumia 640 will be available in several variants – single-SIM, dual-SIM 3G, dual-SIM LTE, DTV. This phone is said to have a PureView camera (8.7MP) on the back, so this could be the first PureView Lumia in the mid-range segment.
Other rumored specs of the Lumia 640/645 include 8GB internal storage, 1GB of RAM, microSD, 5-inch screen with HD (720p) resolution, 0.9 MP front facing camera, NFC, Wireless Charging, and an unknown quad-core processor Snapdragon.
Microsoft is also working on one or two flagship devices so we expect Lumia 1040 with an eight-core Snapdragon 810 processor to launch this summer, possibly with Windows 10 on board.
