Microsoft launches a backup app for Contacts and Messages
The new System app saves information on the SD card
Windows Phone 8.1 devices with expandable storage (SD slots) can install the new System app from Microsoft called ‘Contacts + Message backup’.
After installing this tiny app (less than 1 MB) from the store [link], those devices with SD slots will find the new app hidden in the Settings menu, rather than listed in the apps on the start screen.
With the new Windows Phone tool, users can backup personal contacts, SMS and MMS to the SD card for later restore to a new or the same smartphone. Backup data is only saved to the special folder on the SD card, and is not uploaded to the cloud.
