Lumia smartphones getting an important update to fix random reboots
Microsoft releases a critical update to many Lumia phones
The company has officially acknowledged a bug in some versions of Windows Phone 8.1 that may cause the device to restart randomly. Microsoft is now releasing a security update to all Lumia models who are affected.
Users in India have reported that unlocked editions of Lumia 930, 1520, 830 and 730 are already receiving small firmware patches to fix the issue.
There are not other known changes in this update, which leaves the Lumia 930 owners with OS number 8.10.14226.359 and firmware revision number 02540.00019.14522.26006.
Some of the above mentioned smartphones may also get the big Update 2 for Windows Phone 8.1 in the coming weeks. Update 2 has already reached the first Lumia phones (like HTC One M8, Lumia 640 in select regions), but we don’t know if Lumia Update 2 is indeed planned for 930, 830, 1520 and 730, or these models will jump straight to Windows 10.
[Update 19.06.2015]: The random reboot fix is now rolling out to more devices in many parts of the world. Our readers have reported that Nokia Lumia 520, 1320, 920, 925, 1020, 1520 and other phones are now receiving the critical update.
