Microsoft announced on February 23 new hardware partners interested in Windows Phone and Lenovo was one of the companies. With Windows Phone 8.1 just around the corner, many new manufactures are expected to join the Windows camp as Microsoft promises much lower development costs and less hardware requirements for new Windows Phone devices. In addition, the platform will support soft keys, dual SIM and low-cost processors.

Lenovo was rumored to work on a high-end Windows Phone back in 2013, but apparently the project was cancelled waiting for better times. Now, according to wp7forum.ru, Lenovo has finished its first Windows Phone 8.1 model which is expected to go on sale in early summer 2014. Apparently, the device should be presented after Microsoft’s Built 2014 conference in San Francisco between 2nd and 4th of April, where we should see the final version of the Windows Phone 8.1

Sources close to the matter have revealed that Lenovo plans just one single smartphone, which will be a mid-tier. The device will come with a Snapdragon 400 or Snapdragon 600 processor, a display between 4.5 and 5 inches and a price of around $400.
