Camera test: Lumia 1020 vs Lumia 950 vs Galaxy S7 Edge

A camera test by AAWP compares the new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge against two of the best PureView devices – the Microsoft Lumia 950 and the Nokia Lumia 1020.

The test shootout covers different subjects, light levels and distances. For each scene the author assigns scores from 0 to 10 to the three smartphones, and then sums the scores across all scenes. The Final results are:

  1. Lumia 950: 65/80
  2. Lumia 1020: 64/80
  3. Galaxy S7 Edge: 59/80

Although the score difference between the tested phones is marginal, we can see the Lumia phones still have a clear advantage over the brand new Samsung in many of the scenes.

For example, the Lumia 1020’s realistic photos in daylight, excellent details and lossless zoom are still unparalleled.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 wins in low-light indoor situations and impresses with details in tricky macro shots.

The Galaxy S7, on the other hand, loses against the PureView phones in most of the scenes, except in the ultra low-light test where the f/1.7 aperture helps a bit.
