Facebook Messenger for Windows 10 Mobile now available as a Beta
You can start using the new Messenger
Previously released for Windows 10 Desktop, the new Facebook Messenger is now ready to roll out to the Mobile users as a Beta version. The new app is an iOS-clone and it offers the same design language and most of the functionality available for iPhone, except audio & video calls.
Messenger (Beta) for Windows 10 Mobile is a lot faster than the official old app for Windows Phone 8.1. However, since this is the first Beta version there could be some performance issues and bugs. The company already released a couple of updates for the Desktop app so we expect the same thing to happen with this mobile Beta, and eventually the app can ditch the beta tag and launch officially.
According to the app description in the Store, Messenger for Windows 10 Mobile has the following features:
- Get notifications so you never miss a message
- See when you have messages waiting for you with a live tile
- Send photos, videos, GIFs and more
- Bring your conversations to life with stickers
- Know when people have seen your messages
- Create groups for the people you message most—name them and set group photos
- Forward messages or photos to people who weren’t in the conversation
- Search for people and groups to quickly get back to them
You can download* the app from the Windows Store.
*If the new Messenger Beta is not available for your country, you can change the region settings to Germany or some other European country to install the app.
