Display Dock’s software will be updated by an app
Microsoft’s Continuum accessory will get software updates
The most exciting feature in Windows 10 Mobile is probably Continuum for Phones. By connecting the Lumia 950 smartphone to a special accessory called Microsoft Display Dock, all Windows 10 Mobile users can use their phone like a PC, with a big screen, mouse and keyboard, and run Universal Windows apps.
The Display Dock is sold separately (for EUR/$ 100) or offered as a free gift with a Lumia 950 XL in some of the markets. According to new information found in Microsoft’s help page for Lumia 950/XL, the Display Dock will get software updates using an app called ‘Gadgets’.
Lumia 950 and 950 XL will notify users about new software versions through which Microsoft may add new functionalities and support for additional hardware to the Display Dock accessory.
Lumia 950 and 950 XL are the first smartphones to support Continuum for Phones feature. Both models go on sale in late November in the U.S. & Europe.
