Details about the Surface Pro LTE leak ahead of launch
Microsoft to announce the LTE Surface Pro next month in London
The company had a session during the Ignite 2017 conference, in which it revealed some details about the unannounced Surface Pro LTE expected in October. The LTE version of the Surface Pro should come to the market on December 1, while it could be announced at the London’s Future Decoded conference at the end of October.
Microsoft has confirmed that the Surface Pro LTE will be based on the Qualcomm X16 Gigabit LTE model that supports up to 450 mbps. The model will be integrated directly to the motherboard so the design remains the same as the regular non-LTE version.
Customers should expect about 10% less battery drain on LTE networks than using WiFi, while the battery life during video playback will be similar. However, sleep and hibernate states will be more efficient on LTE.
Additionally, the new model will feature 7 LTE antennas for better connectivity, and will support e-SIM.
