Since the Windows Phone has a limited option for lock screen customization, an application that extends it was a must. Now, there is a new app named Lockmix which offers Android-like customization abilities for handsets running Windows Phone 8.

Lockmix offers a great choice of widgets which you can pin to your lock screen just like the start screen tiles. The widgets show various information and are updated regularly. You can choose between a great diversity of widgets and then select and add them to the lock screen. They are ordered in categories such as backgrounds, weather, calendar, battery, appointments and so forth.

The app is free but there are some widgets like appointments, exchange rates, map, news, QR business card, and RSS, which can be purchased additionally. The widgets can be resized, moved or organized just like the start screen tiles. You can set a background by choosing between a Bing image, solid color, custom picture or a group of pictures rotated regularly. Lockmix is a nice and useful app, and we are eager to see more widgets added with the next updates. You can download the app here.
