Cortana to receive new animations and features
It appears that Microsoft is working on new features and animations for Cortana digital assistant for Windows Phone 8.1. Noticed by some users, these new features were quickly rolled back so it looks like Microsoft is still testing the update which should be ready in time for the final consumer release of WP8.1 in June.
The good news is that you don’t need to install any updates as the service works on a server. This is also good for Microsoft because any improvements and updates can be rolled out with ease. The new features noticed yesterday according to WPCentral are:
- Cortana gets new animated expressions
- New icons for Live Tile – breathing, Traffic to work, Weather
- More interests and notifications in notebook
- Quiz option at Cortana’s ‘Today’ window, so Cortana can learn more about you
- Give feedback link
Meanwhile, Windows Phone UK teased Cortana as coming soon, which is an indication that a wide release of the digital assistant is not so far away. Microsoft announced that Cortana will debut in the US as a Beta, and Redmond will bring the service to the United Kingdom and China as a part of version 1.
