After the launch of its search app a few days ago, Google seems to continue its commitment with Windows Phone. It is releasing now its navigation and traffic app Waze. Waze has around 60 million fans primarily on Android and iOS. it provides real-time traffic reports, but what makes the app different from the other navigation apps is that it is a community based app. Besides getting road alerts, Waze`s users strongly contribute by sharing information about road accidents, travel times, road closures, police traps, etc. For this purpose they are enabled to modify the road maps.
The app can show you the cheapest gas station by providing community-shared fuel prices. You are also able to meet up and coordinate with friends on the road. The overall concept of the app is all drivers to contribute and benefit from the “common good.”
Along with the aforementioned features, Waze includes some other features. For example, the maps get an automatic update when there are changes in the road conditions. You are able to notify someone that you are on the way by sending a live ETA as well as a link showing you while you driving. The app also memorizes your favorite routes and destinations. You can download Waze here.
