Bing search results on Windows Phone 8 get a new design
Bing is being reportedly redesigned with some significant changes to its search results. What is noticeable at first glance is that the biggest change is the number of pivots. Previously, they were four: Web, Local, Media, and Shopping. Now, they are three and renamed: Web, Images, and Video.
The pivots themselves have been separately revamped including a new layout for information. Evidently, the goal is to make the search experience more simple. For example, the Web pivot is now more “context-heavy” based on the user`s experience. It shows at the top a section with a map and specific locations based on the word searched. Also, links to the product cards for the items searched are added into the web results. The News section is redesigned as well and now it shows image thumbnails for each article.
Another change in the Web section is the appearance of a direct definition of the word searched in the results. This allows you to avoid the additional search for a dictionary. The Media section has been replaced with Images and Videos which have got their own redesign. The Images pivot now has bigger image previews, whereas the Videos section has got a new layout showing the video links in two columns. Currently, the new design is available only for the users in the United States, but as reported, it will be available for the rest of the world in the next few weeks.
