App updates: 6tag, Viber, Skype Qik, Shazam and others
Popular Windows Phone apps get new features
Many popular applications for Windows Phone received new updates over the past few days. Here is a short summary.
The famous third-party Instagram client, 6tag, got better image quality and interface improvements for large-screened phones. After updating to version 4.1, 6tag increases the resolution of the images uploaded to the Instagram’s servers.
Viber 4.5 added the ability to swipe for viewing photos, and language option in the settings menu.
A new update for Skype Qik video messaging app includes new video effects to apply before sending Qiks to friends. These effects (mirror, Minecraft, X-Ray and more) can be selected by swiping through the viewfinder.
Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp also scored updates, 9.1.1.0 and 2.11.688 respectively. Neither of the two apps feature changelogs with changes, so we are probably talking about performance improvements and bug fixes.
The latest version of the photographic app Fhotoroom introduced many features. There are new controls for Grain and Hue settings, brand new and updated old filters, improved overall performance and regular fixes.
Finally, Xbox integration came to Shazam v 4.2. Xbox Music app now recommends songs based on songs found by Shazam and previews them. Users can also add songs from Charts to My Shazam.
