Amazon launches a new UWP app for Windows 10
The new app is a web-wrapper
Just a few days after Amazon pulled its old Windows Phone app from the Store, the online retailer is ready to present the new, UWP app for Windows 10 devices. The new version works on PCs and Phones, and it is a Hosted Web app – based on the website. Created using the Microsoft’s Westminster bridge tool, the app gives you almost the same shopping experience as you are using the Microsoft Edge browser.
Being a web app is not necessarily a bad thing though, although you can’t have exclusive Windows 10 features with the new Amazon app. Live Tile, notifications, Lock Screen support and other features are not working with this app for now, although some of them could arrive later with an update.
You can install the Amazon app for Windows from here.
