A fix for the freezing bug on Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 is on the way

Lumia Denim or OTA update should fix the freezing issues

Microsoft has confirmed the freezing bug on many Lumia 1020 & 925 devices that appeared right after installing Windows Phone 8.1 (Lumia Cyan). All affected smartphones just freeze and users are not able to wake them up, unless restarting (soft reset). Sudden restarts have also been reported, while a much limited number of phones got bricked.

Lumia Cyan update was announced in July and then started rolling out to all Lumia smartphones. We know that only Nokia Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 devices have been affected, but these freezing problems do not affect all units from the series. Microsoft promises a fix for these issues will be coming very soon, maybe with the upcoming Lumia Denim update, expected to begin rolling out in December.

Microsoft’s representative assured that the company has founded the cause of the these problems and the fix in waiting for final approval. The problem is a serious bug preventing the CPU to power up from sleeping mode under a specific combination of factors.

Lumia Denim firmware will enable Cortana in more countries, bring Live Tiles on the start screen, App Corner, and unique Lumia experience to all smartphones.
