5 great UWP apps for wallpapers
UWP Wallpapers apps to personalize your Windows 10 device
By absolute numbers, the Microsoft Store has significantly fewer apps compared with the Google or App Stores, but in terms of quality the difference is not so dramatic. I’ve often struggled to find a good app for Android among the crap ones, something that could be really frustrating. Windows 10’s Universal app platform makes possible for developers to target multiple device types with a single app. And yes, there are some great UWP offerings in the Microsoft Store. Here’s a selection of Wallpaper apps you can use to change the appearance of your Lock and Start screen:
Astronomy Picture of the day
The UWP version, launched in November 2017, lets you browse through hundreds of quality astronomy photos from the NASA site. You can see the picture of the day on your Lock and Start screen, as well on the Live Tile.
Wallpaper Studio 10
This is a cross-platform app, so you can sync your wallpapers between Android and Windows 10 devices. Choose among thousands of HD and UltraHD wallpapers and download them with a click. You can create folders and set slideshows for Lock and Start screen, rate and share wallpapers, search through categories, and more.
If you are a fan of Unsplash or a designer, MyerSplash Wallpaper allows you to browse easily the amazing photos from Unsplash and download them. Unsplash.com is a community of photographers where they publish photos for free download.
Using this app, you can decorate your own photos with different texts, styles and stickers. You can also use one of the backgrounds within the app, and then apply gradients and color options. You can save the photo, and set it as a background image on your Windows 10 device.
This is an experimental project by Microsoft – the UWP version of City Art Search. With the update on February 2, 2018, CAS Preview offers 5,118 artworks for mobile and 3049 for PC & Xbox One. You can start a random slideshow, and select a time for slideshow on the Lock and Start screens. There is an option to set one photo on both the lock and start screen. You can also activate a nudity, religious and portrait filter.
