Windows Phone 8.1 keeps on giving as LiveSino has found some unannounced features in the Software Development Kit hinting that more customization options will become available for users with the upcoming major OS update. This is a hot topic as most customers are complaining about the lack of customization options in the current Windows Phone 8 built.

So, SDK has an option allowing users to set the phone’s background image that stays beneath the Live Tiles matching the accent color of their phones. A similar option was introduced in Windows 8 for desktop computers, allowing users to set backgrounds by choice.

A source close to Microsoft has confirmed that the company is experimenting with different customization options for the Start screen including transparent Live Tiles, backgrounds, skinning Live Tiles with images and more.

Another new feature, which Windows Phone Area hinted is now confirmed. An additional column will be added to the Start Screen for all large screen devices (4.5+), including handsets like Lumia 920, 925 and 1020. All these phones will be able to switch to a layout with an additional third column of mid-sized tiles after the Windows Phone 8.1 update.
