Windows Maps snags an update for Fast and Slow ring Insiders
New update for Windows Maps allows you to manually save a location
Windows Maps for Insiders on the Fast and Slow Ring has been updated with some new features and many fixes and improvements. The updated app is currently available only for Insiders who are on the Redstone branch for updates, while users on the official Production channel still have the old Windows Maps.
Here’s what’s new in Windows Maps (for Windows 10 Mobile Redstone builds):
- Manually save a location when GPS is not available
- Performance and reliability improvements
- New airport maps – you can switch between floors
- Fixed voice instructions issues
- Fixed unresponsive StreetSide
- Fixed guided directions bugs when arrows disappear
By the Windows 10 Anniversary update in the summer, Microsoft hopes to improve the built-in Maps app and make them available for all users. Improving the native Maps is crucial for the platform in the second half of 2016 considering the news about HERE discontinuing its apps for Windows 10 after June 30.
