Windows Insider now has a ‘Production’ option for official Firmware updates
You can pick up a new firmware and then re-join the Insider program
Microsoft is making easier for the Insiders to install firmware updates on their phones. First, a few weeks ago, the company updated its servers to make possible installing official updates after leaving the Insider program, but without hard-resetting the device like in the past.
From today, all Windows Insiders don’t need to leave the program at all, because Microsoft added a third option in the Insider app – ‘Production’. This is a temporary solution – in the future the software company will offer both OS updates and firmware updates to the Insiders.
To jump off the Insider boat (Fast or Slow ring), open the Windows Insider application and select ‘Get Preview Builds’ → Production. After the phone reboots, you can go to Settings → Phone Updates and see if something is available for you. Then, you can re-join the program by opening the app and selecting ‘Fast’ or ‘Slow’ ring.
