ISO files for Windows 10 S are now free to download

Windows 10 S, the secure version of Windows with only Store apps, is now available for everyone to install from this website. Although the OS is designed for the education market, you can also download and install it on existing Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Enterprise PC. Scroll down the the bottom of the page, and hit ‘Download Installer’.

You have to run version 1703 (Creators Update) or newer build. The installer will delete all your settings, so it’s recommended to make a system backup before the procedure so you can return to the previous version of Windows if you wish. Windows 10 S will be activated automatically on your machine, providing that you’ve previously had a genuine key for Windows.

Keep in mind that for security reasons and performance benefits, Windows 10 S only runs verified apps from the Store. You can’t install traditional .exe files on this machine, but some modernized Win32 apps like Spotify could be downloaded from the Store.

Microsoft has already launched the first product (Surface Laptop) with Windows 10S pre-installed, and other PCs will be releasing new models later in 2017. These new lightweight machines will be cheaper and more secure compared to full-featured Windows 10 computers with all risks from downloading infected .exe files.
