Finalizing the official Anniversary update has begun

Yesterday, Microsoft released a new Fast Ring build for Mobile devices and this is the first public release with the ‘Version 1607‘ branding. Windows version 1607 will be the official Anniversary update for Desktop and Mobile scheduled for July 2016.

Microsoft now has less than two months to finalize Windows 10 before rolling out version 1607 to the general public. The last mobile build includes tons of fixes and improvements over the previous build, but there were no new features except some Cortana improvements.

Microsoft has stopped the work on new features and the stabilization work has begun. We can expect further bug fixes in the next Insider builds, before the official release in late July 2016. Sources familiar with the matter have revealed that a lot more new features for mobile will arrive with Redstone 2 – the next big update scheduled for early 2017.
