WhatsApp version 2.12.60 introduces voice calling

After months in private beta, the voice calling functionality has been enabled for all WhatsApp users via a new update, available in the Store.

WhatsApp voice calling allows you to call friends for free (if they have the app installed) using the phone’s Internet connection. The same functionality has been offered by the two leading VoIP apps, Skype and Viber, for years now, but companies like WhatsApp and Facebook are now trying to capture the users’ attention by adding voice calling functionality to their apps.

With Windows 10 Mobile, Skype may secure a have a huge advantage over all similar services, as it will be integrated into the OS’s core, thus unleashing a better native voice calling experience.
