VLC Media Player available for Windows 10 Phones and PCs
VLC Universal app for Windows 10 released as a beta
VideoLAN has released the first public version of the popular media player VLC for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile. Version 2.0 is now available for download as a Beta for all users with Windows 10 devices. The company also promised support for Xbox One and HoloLens to come soon.
VLC Universal includes all features available on iOS and Android, plus a few more, according to the app developer. The media player comes with a new interface for Windows 10 devices, white or dark theme, new settings options, support for all popular media formats, media sharing, and more.
The new app for Windows 10 devices has a Live Tile and supports Continuum, and Cortana in English and French. In addition to these unique Windows features mentioned above, VLC Media Player supports DirectX 11.1 which is also exclusive to Windows 10. Of course, this is a UWP app, not a full-featured Desktop client, so some features are not available – like TV Tuners and DVD playback.
You can download the brand new VLC app from the Windows store (for PC and Phone).
