Vivo may be launching the first phone that boots Windows and Android
Rumors about smartphones running two operating systems are not something new, but we haven’t seen such a device on the market yet. While HTC One is the first phone that has two versions – one with Windows and one with Android OS, the Chinese company Vivo may become the first vendor to offer a real dual-OS -capable device.
A leaked photo reveals an unknown prototype with a design similar to Vivo X5L, but running Windows Phone 8.1.1. The Chinese website GizChina reports that this phone probably uses a 5-inch display and a Qualcomm processor, and boots Android and Windows. There is no info on how both OS will reside the same hardware but there could be two separate partitions for each OS, and some shared features like contacts and camera roll.
Vivo is one the most innovative companies in China. They launched the first phone with a Quad HD display resolution, and are known for high-quality camera modules. Now, Vivo may be trying to find another alternative solution and become the first OEM with a dual OS smartphone.
